They are greedy for power and promotion... they WANT war, it is what they were trained for (which is why the military should be reduced, aliens expelled, and the US to stop destabilizing other nations and causing wars so the rest of the world does not hate us; aliens need to stay in their own country and we in ours).

Imagine training years for the Olympics but never being able to compete...

Many military (not all) are part psycho and WANT to kill (the same applies to many of those who fill the ranks of policing agencies; they actually give psychological tests to find borderline psychopaths).  The current type of military is in the business of their own "job security", that is, creating the situations in which their jobs are actually needed. 

They don't want to be like the Maytag repairman, sitting around bored, reading, napping, playing with a ball on a rubber band tied to a paddle, doing crossword puzzles... they want to drop bombs, shoot missiles, create destruction, and kill people.  Imagine a demolition specialist never being able to detonate a device, a singer / musician never being able to give a performance... a racehorse never being able to race, attack dog never being able to attack...!  It is the epitome of frustration and meaningless existence to them.

Thus, the solution is LESS military (and LESS psychos) being TRAINED to WANT that ADVENTURE.

The only way that can be done is to stop destabilizing other nations, stop the invasion of muslims, jews, and the third world, tell them to stay in their own countries and we will leave them alone unless they actually commit acts of terrorism / violence against us or our people--and if they do we will blow them off the map and not rebuild them.

But the police / military growth industry complex build such massive mass and inertia in not only their budget, but the salaries of their huge armies--and the pensions (and health care) for those armies for the rest of their lives continue to bleed the nation dry.  Serving in the military was supposed to be a rotating tour of duty, not a lifetime career; and a person serving a few years should not receive a pension and medical care for the rest of his life.  This is a Statist mentality  to eventually subvert the US into a Police State and a Democratic Socialist State.  Once the majority of the people in the nation (legitimate or not) are on the government dole (government employees / politicians / public servants, the mass army on welfare, disability, social security, the military, active and retired)... they will vote for the socialist who promises to preserve their paychecks and give them even more.  Thus, anyone receiving a benefit / paycheck from the government should not be allowed to vote because it is a conflict of interests, because the vote boils down to voting how much of the money of hard working Americans they want to have taken from the taxpayers and given to those on the government dole.  That is the essence of a "Corruptocracy".  As George Bernard Shaw expressed, "Those who rob Peter to pay Paul can always count on [the support of] Paul".
