In the Heart Dwelleth the Soul

“And my ending is despair, Unless I be reliev’d by prayer...” —Prospero, in The Tempest

“St. John tells us that, ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God,’ and later he tells us that, ‘the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us...’ It has been my [...]”

The author of the article at the above link is confused.

Heart and mind (and “reins”, which are the kidneys) in Scripture all refer to the intellect.  This author has confused the Hebrew and Greek words for heart (leyb, cardia) as referring to the blood pumping organ, which they do not, except in rare cases when context clearly will so indicate.  When referring to passions, more often the Hebrew and Greek words for bowels (not restricted to the intestines, but also the stomach and womb) and even sometimes the loins (mothen) and even spleen are used (meyaw, splagchnon / spleyn).

It is the majority of the lowest elements of “Emancipated” society who, like children and adolescents think with their emotions (and that is why they are easily stirred up by anarchists / communist agitators, or often act like a pack of animals feeding off their collective passions).  For this reason they get into trouble for not thinking ahead to consider the consequences of their actions, much less thinking about trifling matters such as morality.  They don’t, because in most cases they do not have a conscience.  That area of their brain / soul-spirit is dead (nonexistent).  For this reason they do not even care about whom they hurt; caring only about immediate gratification, which pacifies the passions.  In fact, being psychopaths and masochists, they often delight in the torturous pain of their victims, and laugh about it as being “great fun”.

The more that Christendom is overburdened with such aliens, the more they are put on a pedestal, the more special laws are made for them, the more our schools and churches are dumbed down to accommodate them with anti-intellectual emotionalism, the more their crimes against true humanity are ignored—the more Christendom becomes a mindless, emotional basket [or is that “casket”?] case.  The Protestant Reformation and the American Revolution were not founded upon passions or emotionalism.  More than any other 2 events in history, they were founded upon the pinnacle of intellectual thought.  This does not mean that they were not accompanied by strong passions / emotions.  But those passions were the result of the intellect and its firm faith in Truth, not in the absence of it.

This author needs to read Dr. Gordon H. Clark.  A Christian View of Men and Things, would be a good book to start with; and then maybe, The Biblical Doctrine of Man.

The problem was not merely “intellectualism”—and anyone who even suggests such a thing, throws out a warning flag to his readers to indicate that he really does not know what he is talking about and that his discourse will be invalid.  It may sound nice, but it will be confused humanism.  The problem was secular intellectualism that rejected Biblical “rationalism” (truth based upon the logical propositions established the Word of God) and instead embraced secular Rationalism (based upon man’s own faulty propositions, starting with man thinking that he can deduce all truth from his own mind, his own perception of what he thinks are “first principles”—apart from any need for God).  Society (and the Christian Church) has been led even greater astray by Empiricism, which maintains that only that which can be scientifically measured is real.  However, Empiricism is an unsustainable myth.  See also Clark’s brief, but masterful, Three Types of Religious Philosophy.

[I stock all these titles.  Inquire.]

This led to secular philosophies as the rule of society rather than the Logos [Rational-Word of God] and invariably turned into humanism (the worship of man) and hedonism (the worship of pleasure); both of which are controlled by the passions.

Christian faith is not supposed to be anti-intellectual.  “Faith cometh by ... the Word of God.”

[Technically, the verse says, “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God”.  However, the average person will be confused if his doctrine itself is corrupt.  First of all, the word “hearing” does NOT refer to the ability of the human organ known as the ear, due to sound vibrations striking the bones of the inner ear, which are then converted into nerve impulses that the mind can understand.  It has to do with God speaking.  God does not merely speak into the air.  He speaks to the elect of His people, and first, He calls them to life, regenerating them, and gives them ears to hear.  But these “ears to hear”, which phrase Christ frequently used, again, do not refer to the two organs on the side of your head.  This phrase refers to the mind.  God operates upon the mind.  The Holy Spirit convicts through the mind.  Yes, emotions often accompany this conviction, through shame and remorse and even fear (of Judgment) and appreciation for forgiveness.  But without the intellectual message those emotions would not know what to do.]

The Word of God is not ethereal nonsense, or irrational emotionalism—it is Truth: It is founded upon propositions (logical statements that are valid).  The modern church has been trained (in the anti-Calvinist trend*) to reject the intellect and give way to emotions and feel-goodism and experience (which has the stability of a runaway streetcar in San Francisco) and even mysticism and superstition (and even the incorporation of humanism and paganism).

True Christianity is Revelationally based and True Christianity is Doctrine and doctrine is based upon logical propositions established by God.  A large percentage of modern “Christians” laud themselves with the notion, “We don’t get caught up in theology or doctrine, it is divisive; we just ‘love’.”  Doctrine was meant to be divisive! —to separate the wheat from the chaff and the wheat from the tares and the sheep from the goats because those who are truly Christ’s sheep will hear and know His Voice, and follow (obey) Him, and continue in His Doctrine.  His Doctrine and Commandments were not His Own, but the very Commandments of the Father, which Christ Himself kept to set the example for us.  Those “Christian churches” who do not get caught up in doctrine or theology are not Christian at all, but feel-good humanistic country clubs that take one Attribute of God with which they can all agree (as long as they don’t attempt to actually define it!)—“Love”—and they make that their only (undefined) “doctrine”.  It is bad enough that they do not define, it, but further, they even then warp and pervert it to suit their own godlessness which they like to think of as “spirituality”.  And that have the unmitigated gall to call themselves “Christian”; even as so-called Lutherans call themselves “Lutherans” even though they don’t even know, much less follow, the doctrine of Luther (or they even condemn Luther and apologize for some things that he believed!).

[* This anti-Calvinist trend can be compared to the desecration and throwing down of our national monuments in the U.S. (and other nations), by savages who think that they have the right to destroy the social order because some evil agitator told them that they have the right.  They are like runaway horses, chomping at the bit, in an emotional frenzy, all lathered up, adrenaline firing on all cylinders (brains firing on none) having been driven on by the fomentors of revolutions.  They do very little thinking at all.  Thus, the modern “Christian” church (the “headless horseman”, the Ichabod Church: “the Glory has departed”), and its schools and seminaries have toppled the doctrinal monuments of the Reformation in favor of anti-intellectualism, humanism, and a heaping helping of feel-good paganism, in their mindless lust to become friends with the world.  And they somehow are so deluded into thinking that God is pleased with them!]

Christians have been taught not to think.  It is a conspiracy.  God tells us TO think (not sit around and “emote” or “feel” or “passionate”... He commands us to study to show ourselves approved, to prove all things, to meditate upon His Word; to search matters out, discover that which God hid in His Word.  “Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee” does not refer to a bundle of emotions, but an ironclad understanding of God’s Word wherewith you can quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.  If your heart / mind is FULL of God’s Word, then there is no room for competing ideas.  The prophet mourns the thoughts of God: “My people are destroyed—NOT for “lack of emotions” but—because they lack knowledge.”

Secular philosophies maintain that something is good for man if man likes it and if man thinks of it as beneficial for “self”, or in the case of socialism (the early stage of which is called “democracy”) if it is good for the “collective” self.  However, God is the One Who has established morality—and He is the ONLY source of morality.  It cannot be deduced by secular Rationalism and it cannot be discovered through Empiricism, and it certainly is at loggerheads with humanism and hedonism.

God establishes premises and conclusions that are purely logical, true, and valid; those who are the chaff which the wind [Holy Spirit] driveth away, are fanned like flames to reject God and His Morality and instead fabricate a myriad of faulty systems based upon faulty propositions that they choose, ones that flatter self, ones that declare their emancipation from God and man’s own imagniary sovereignty (independence from God).  They deludedly celebrate their own ever-changing set of laws that, if they were not corrupt to begin with, will become completely corrupted the more evil that society becomes* as a result of their godless philosophy.  Their propositions even maintain that there is no God; or, in exaggerated hypocrisy, they embrace a mystical panentheism that “everything is god”.  This, of course, is self-deification to ignorant people; but to those who know how to think, they realize that it is laughable ignorance: for if everything is god, then nothing is god.  If everything is special, nothing is special.

[* Imagine a nation whose currency has been corrupted by treasonous politicians who yearly order trillions of new paper “dollars” to be printed, with nothing of any value (gold and silver) to back that paper (I know it’s hard to imagine something like that, but give it a try).  Eventually, it will costs $2 million (which now is only 20 cents) to buy a piece of gum (that “hyper-inflation” happened in Germany—a wheelbarrow of Deutsch Marks would maybe buy a loaf of bread).  Just imagine how much paper “money” it would take to buy something that has a high sticker price.  The corrupt politicians conspire to print an entirely new set of currency, devaluing the old (to hide the TRILLIONS of dollars that they have stolen) in which the $100 bill that you now have would only be worth $10 in the new currency.  This happened in Argentina and many other nations in which corrupt politicians robbed the people blind (of course, always blaming it on anything and everything but the real problem).  Those who have never travelled or who have not studied to deeply, may think that this is fantasy; but it has happened to many nations.  When I worked with missionaries during the summer in Argentina and Brazil in 1979 and 1980, I learned that a $500 peso bill in Argentina was worth less than $5 and the valueless metal coinage they had would lie on the ground in the dirt or in the streets, it not even being worth the average person’s time to bend over and pick it up and clean it off (and like our nation, the politicians had already robbed all the currency of real precious metals).  Well, this is the very same pattern followed by godless governments.  Once the level of immorality reaches a certain level (it having been raised, year after year by the antichrist government-controlled media, entertainment, schools, churches, and official government institutions, “morality” has to be “reassessed” and “redefined”; even as the academic level of the schools must be lowered and lowered so the lowest echelons of society can pass.  When the majority are dull minded and substandard, the standard has to be lowered so they can all feel good about themselves.  When society has plunged headfirst into immorality and certain things no longer “shock” or “disgust” the majority, then morality itself is “redefined” and that which was considered anathema is now “wonderful”.]

However, as all their godless pseudo-intellectual systems collapse (whether they admit it or not, as 100 lb. stones from the ediface are crashing all around them), those who can still think a little bit see through the fraud of Evolution and realize that there has to be a “Higher Power” or “Intelligent Design”.  The most-rebellious hold outs claim belief in “super-intelligent aliens”, somehow responsible for life on earth; which merely “delays payment” and “passes the buck”.  They hope that no one will be sharp minded enough to inquire concerning the origin of those “super-intelligent aliens”.  However, these intelligent persons, even though they see through the fraud of many pseudo-intellectual systems, are not willing to recognize the God of the Bible as being that Being (Higher Power / Designer / Creator).  Why...?  If they admitted that the God of the Bible is the only God and Creator, they would have to admit that they were dutibound to obey Him!  Which they refuse to do.

What is the solution?  Reformation.  Reformation—not to any new morality or new concepts, but a repentant and faithful return to the old: to the ones that work, to the ones that are true, to the ones that raised our nations to their Golden Ages—to the Law of God and the Common Law which was founded upon the Law of God.  The pure Word of God is to be interpreted in light of the intentions of the author at the time that it was written—in the spirit and in the letter (not according to modern notions).  So is the U.S. Constitution—do declared those who framed it.

“On every question of construction of the Constitution let us carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed.” —Thomas Jefferson

[Who do you think knows more about what is “Constitutional”...? —the socialist, evolutionist, corrupt fools of the modern age who think that they are “experts” or those who actually wrote it...?]

The Constitution must be interpreted in light of the Common Law.  (U.S. v. Wong Kim)

God often admonishes His people to “return”; return to Him; seek Him with their whole heart; forsake their own ways.  God also warned us:

“23And if ye will not be reformed by Me by these things, but will walk contrary unto Me; 24Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.  25And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of My Covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.” (Leviticus 26)

“If My people, which are called by My Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (II Chronicles 7:14)

“18I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn Thou me, and I shall be turned; for Thou art the LORD my God.  19Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.  [and God then replies] 20Is Ephraim My dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore My Bowels [innermost parts] are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 31)

“Turn Thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.” (Lamentations 5:21)
