—The Virgin Birth — False Prophet Attacking Christ
Beloved Georgian Baptist preacher Charles Stanley’s son Andy, who is pastor of one of the largest congregations in the U.S. (33,000), continues to reveal his modernist doctrine (and I believe Charles has broken ties with him) and denial of key Bible doctrine (and pretty much the whole of the Old Testament). False prophets continue to arise and gather massive followings.

The virgin birth DOES matter. Without it Christ’s Divinity is lost; and furthermore, had Christ been born of a man, He would have inherited the sin nature and NOT BEEN SINLESS and therefore, COULD NOT have been the sacrifice for sin.
Andy Stanley’s LIMP response reveals his heterodoxy and he would make a good (that is “corrupt”) politician, like Hillary, in being able to use a great deal of words and really say nothing; except when he makes the mistake of saying too much and actually reveals a little of what he is trying to hide.
His comment that he is “well within orthodoxy” is really LIMP... meaning that he has no problem seeing how far he can stray from the center of the truth and not cross the line into “official” heresy. But his assessment is not true. His words infer that he believes the virgin birth to be a myth invented in later times to add credibility to Christian doctrine. This actually denies Christ; it infers that His Life and Ministry was not significant enough and people had to later make things up. It also reveals the belief that the Bible text is untrustworthy.
His comment concerning his critics—that some pastors must have nothing better to do than sit around and listen to his sermons... uhhh... doesn’t HE have anything better to do than to PREACH them...? and doesn't he preach them for the purpose of PEOPLE LISTENING TO THEM? It would then behoove him to preach sound doctrine, or hope that only undiscerning Christians are listening. Is that what he hopes? What an anti-intellectual statement!
He should not be concerned as much with what others think (though the others in this case are RIGHT)—but what GOD thinks. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God. False doctrine is sin. It is a fearful thing to lead the sheep and even more fearful if you think it a “little matter” to be leading them in the wrong direction AWAY from the true Christ. If an apostate pastor leads someone to a picture of Gandhi and says, “This is Christ”... and then teaches him about Gandhi’s doctrine mixed in with Christ’s... that is not Christ that a person believes in. Without pure doctrine, true theology, it is not Christianity, but humanism and paganism. Christ said we are His disciples indeed if we abide in His words (doctrine). Those words entail WHO HE IS and YES, HOW HE GOT HERE. If any man preach another Gospel unto you, let him be accursed. To downplay the importance of a foundational doctrine is to “throw the Bible and Jesus Himself under the train”.
[One person at the link above commented that Andy Stanley is one of the few who still preach the pure Gospel like Jesus did (clearly, this person has never met Jesus); and said that it was shameful for those who are attacking him to throw him under the train; actually, I believe the phrase is to throw someone under the bus or from the train; but he is confused in other issues, why not this one. Clearly this person is not even familiar with Paul:
“2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (II Timothy 4)
And to the person who thought that Baptists did not believe in the virgin birth, order: The Fundamentals, from Christian Book Distributors and learn what Bible doctrine is. Or better yet, if you are truly serious, order Dr. Gordon Clark and learn just how little you really know:
- The Atonement, 163pp., pb., 11.00 + P&H.
- God’s Hammer: The Bible and Its Critics, 215pp., pb., 15.00 + P&H.
- The Holy Spirit, 129pp., 9.00 + P&H.
- The Incarnation, 91pp., pb., 9.00 + P&H.
- The Trinity, 186pp., 13.00 + P&H.
- What is the Christian Life?, 342pp., pb., 13.00 (which combines his two works Sanctification and Today’s Evangelism: Counterfeit or Genuine?)
It seems that you confuse the Catholic doctrine of “Immaculate Conception” with the Virgin birth. Counterfeit dollars do not invalidate real dollars. Just because there is the false doctrine of Baptismal Regeneration does not mean that Baptism is not a valid doctrine; and just because there is the false doctrine of Transubstantiation does not invalidate the doctrine of Communion.
And to the one who is “certain Andy is right”... please give chapter and verse. And if you think inerrancy of the Scriptures is not taught in the Scriptures, and not an important doctrine, then nothing in the Bible is trustworthy. It may or may not be true; and the Bible is then merely a collection of nice ideas, that may or may not be true. It might be better to stop listening to tv and radio preachers and just read the Bible cover to cover each year and pray that the Holy Spirit turns a light on in your profound darkness.]
The meaning of the Greek word translated virgin is a smokescreen. It can mean young woman or it can mean actual virgin; but that is not the point. Context dictates meaning. That is only one factor. When the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that she was pregnant of the Holy Ghost, it came as a surprise to her and she replied, asking, “How can this be, seeing that I have never known a man?”
Furthermore, it does not matter what else Andy preached in his sermon. His words can’t be taken out of context because the context was one of doubting the veracity of the Virgin Birth. It does not matter than he has not said that he actually denies the Virgin Birth himself; the point is that he is VERY SOFT on the doctrine and thinks that it does not matter and expresses that he thinks it makes sense that a myth was added into the Scriptural text. Even as lies require more and more lies to keep the lie hidden, so one bad theology will cause other doctrines to fail like rotting teeth falling out of the gums. Bible doctrine is not pick or choose; even as if you offend one point of the Law you are guilty of all; because they are all connected—a harmonious whole.
It matters not what other lovely, albeit probably very casually and poorly stated things he said in his entire sermon... it requires a good dose of sugar to help the poison go down without noticing it.

This woman’s explanation and attempted correction of Andy Stanley’s doctrinal error is as bad as Andy Stanley’s error itself.
Two nearly blind people with tweasers saying “Hold still...” while trying to pull the splinter out of the other’s eye.
Maybe she should have written an article on baking cookies and shared an inspirational Bible verse instead.
It would have been more Biblical according to the roles that God ordained and commanded. Jezebel is not really invested by God with authority to correct Ahab. Both preach a “feel good” “gospel”; the main difference is what makes each of them “feel good”.
Stanley seems to think that the God of the Old Testament is not the God of the New Testament and that He is not the God that the Bible reveals Him to be.
The real reason Andy Stanley wants out of the Old Testament... is because there are more books in the Old Testament and they are much longer, so there is a 3x greater chance that he will be in error on any given passage he attempts to teach.

Another false prophet.
Do as I say not as I do.
Does no one see it as a bit hypocritical that Andy preaches “unity” but he is not united with his own father who is a famous and respected preacher?
Andy is a graduate of Dallas Theological seminary—no surprise.
You can’t take one passage of Scripture and make that the only Bible. The WHOLE must be harmoniously interpreted and the FULL Counsel of the Word of God taught—and those who don’t will be ASHAMED on the Day of Judgment.
The many thousand people in attendance show they are not Christians and don’t care about the truth... they should have shouted “HERESY” and got up and walked out. They denied Christ when they did not. But, it is quite possible that they don’t know Christ, and that is why they follow a false prophet.
“If any man preach another gospel unto you let him be accursed.”
The Gospel is the FULL COUNSEL of the Word of God; it is not extracting all the parts you like; like making “spiritual white bread”, extracting and then discarding all the fiber, vitamins, minerals, and protein. That is the artificial “christianity” of the Apostate Church—and in time they will, in time, embrace every abomination!
Christ commanded separation and the prayer for unity does not negate that.
Christ said “If ye continue in My word, then are ye my disciples indeed.”
The word “word” here is Logos (two short os as in hop). The meaning of this Greek word is not merely individual words [for which hreymata is used]. Logos is the “rational thought”; whence we derive our words logic, logistics, logarithm, logical, etc., and it means “ration, reasoning,” and in this passage “DOCTRINE”.
Hence, those who do not follow in His Doctrine ARE NOT His disciples.
IT DOES matter what your theology is because DOCTRINE, THEOLOGY is what Christianity is. Christianity without sound doctrine / theology is not Christianity, but humanism.
It DOES matter what you believe... otherwise, what Andy Stanley teaches is just as much “Christianity” as the t-shirt I once saw, “Everyone has to believe in something and I believe I’ll have another beer”.
All roads do not lead to Rome. Christ commanded us to shake the dust off our shoes if anyone reject the doctrine that Christ taught.
Stanley should let the janitor be pastor, he might know Scripture better if he was actually listening when Charles Stanley preached. Obviously, Stanley’s son Andy must have been sleeping in the pew or reading Spiderman comic books or something while Charles was preaching.
Andy and his followers’ notion of “unity” will be realized when they all find themselves in Hell together.
This is sad, tragic (from man’s perspective)... Andy is Absalom... Charles is David.
If their doctrine is so polluted that they do not even understand who God is then it is quite possible that they are not converted because they were never ordained unto life.
From the looks of that stage, from the thumbnail photo I saw, they are putting on a show, not worshipping God—which requires submitting to Him, including ones mind and will; and then believing sound doctrine and obeying what God commanded.
